Huge Success at first annual benefit dinner

Last night was the first annual Rocky Mountain SOA watch dinner, hosted by the Mercury Cafe, and it was incredible!

Marylin from the mercury was kind enough to let us use her place, CVV (colorado vincentian volunteers) decorated, Matthew Nikoloff was MC, Justin was fundraising extroardinaire, and of course, the live auctioneer, the best of the best, Jesse.

We should note that Jesse's dance was probably the highlight of the evening, if not the year, for most people.

In total we had about 30 plates of food consumed, copious amounts of alcohol from the bar, lots of laughs, and, drumroll please, $1300 raised for justice!

We had such a great time, we're thinking of doing it again next year. Many thanks for all the supporters that came out to eat, drink, and be merry.

Updates - We have the biodiesel bus painted

and are looking for yardwork to do for the fall so we can take it around the city. If you have any yardwork that needs done and would like to donate to a good cause, post a comment here or e-mail Brendan Mccrann at bmccrann@gmail.com

Loads of stuff has been happening!!

Hey guys, this is the voice of the Rocky Mountain SOA Watch back again for another update!

We have been working on putting on our fundraising dinner and flyering to get the word out that we are here and we are working to close the SOA!

So far:

FIRST FRIDAY of October: Many thanks to Justin for printing out thefliers! There were so many folks around this Friday. We handed out 400fliers and Adrian got his first DONATION from a very cool woman named MaryJo. We hope to see her on Tuesday the 17th at the MERC.After we exhausted the number of fliers we had, we walked around a bitand had a chance to see some Capoeira dance fighting at the studiothere on Sante Fe. Thanks for coming and pitching in guys!

Wednesday was our usual meeting, this time hosted by the CVV people. Great food, great people, and we are going to be painting the Biodiesel bus this Saturday. Contact Brendan if you need more information, or post a comment here!
:-)
More canvassing today, a $10 donation from some cool kids and about 100 more flyers handed out. I think that if all went well, there is a post office in Denver that will have information about us hung up in the break room.

Updates on past activity and future events

Hey Rocky Mountain SOA Watchers!

Last Wednesday we held our usual meeting, this time at Brendans house. Good times, great fun, and dancing. If you haven't been, you are missing out!

Deb did some great publicity at the Amy Goodman KGNU fundraiser! She didn't get a table, but managed to pass out about 120 fliers about our movement and talk to lots of people. We also hooked up with organizers from the American Friends Service Committee who were fliering about Eyes Wide Open, and exhibit at Civic Center park later this month that you should definetely go see! No politics please, just peace

Tomorrow, Friday, we are going to first Fridays on Santa Fe to distribute fliers about our next series of events and gather signatures to present to Diana Degette in support of closing the SOA. Its going to be great, and we would love to either see you there or have you work with the Rocky Mountain SOA region!! Meet at the Democratic Party Headquarters at 6:00pm and bring a clipboard or pen or both. And as much money as you can donate! :-P

Coming soon - Benefit dinner at Mercury Cafe, October 17th at 5:45 pm, $25 a plate Call D. adrian Manriquez at 303-916-4380 for tickets. Seats are limited!

And Bus painting!
